Hurricane Ike Tracked On Paltalk With Live Reports From Texas

Paltalkers who live along the Texas Gulf Coast joined us on News Talk Online on Paltalk.com to tell us of the situation as they awaited the arrival of Hurricane Ike.

Several reported that they were right along the beach and were defying mandatory evacuations. Authorities there said if it gets too bad and they get in trouble, they may not be able to rescue them.

The Hurricane Ike Relief room is now open in the Special Events section of Paltalk, raising money for the American Red Cross Disaster Services.

People who are hunkered down in Galveston, TX are being warned by the National Weather Service that they face “certain death” if they don’t leave low lying shelter immediately as Hurricane Ike takes aim on them.

Palin The New Dick Cheney

Rattling sabres

If you want to be the next vice-president of the United States, maybe you need to emulate the current veep.

Not only do Dick Cheney and Sarah Palin find common ground in their love of hunting, but they also seem to be fellow sabre rattlers.

Wasn’t it Cheney who threatened to station U.S. warships in the Persian Gulf should Iran fail to ensure that it isn’t developing nuclear weapons?

Whatever happened to Teddy Roosevelt’s philosophy of walking softly and carrying a big stick? The Iranians presumably know that the U.S. packs firepower without having to be reminded by Cheney.

Now Palin is taking a page out of Cheney’s playbook, telling ABC’s Charles Gibson the United States must be ready to take on Russia if necessary over Georgia.

Today’s News Talk Online on Paltalk.com offered audience members an opportunity to say “thank you” to those who answered the call to duty on September 11, 2001.

Two New York City Fire Department paramedics and two doctors who are treating those who have continuing respiratory and other health problems from their prolonged exposure to toxic fumes at Ground Zero were my guests.

It’s important that, at least once a year, we pause to remember the tragic events of seven years ago today. And it’s appropriate to, not only remember those who died, but those who gave and continue to give to their community, their nation and their world.
